Awareness and Diversity💜

Awareness

What is Awareness and why do we want it

Awareness means mindfulness and responsibility in social interactions. It is about creating a space where all people feel safe, respected and welcome, regardless of gender, background, sexual orientation, disability, body, age or experience on the bike.

Awareness structures are not about control, but about support and clear principles

  • Awareness persons are contact people during events or rides. They listen, take those affected seriously and offer help when boundaries are crossed, whether verbally, physically or emotionally.
  • Awareness also means prevention. We raise awareness of discriminatory or abusive behaviour and promote communication based on consent, reflection and respect.
  • Awareness requires clear concepts. It must be defined who can be contacted within the community, how situations are handled and which steps follow in cases of harassment, boundary violations or conflicts.

This protects everyone involved, including affected persons, awareness contacts and the community itself, because it provides orientation, creates accountability and offers security in taking action.

We need awareness structures because equality, inclusion and mutual respect do not simply happen by themselves. Awareness creates trust, strengthens community and ensures that our sport and our scene are accessible to everyone, not only to those who already feel safe.
What our awareness concept will include will be developed together in the WA group safe.space.lab💜.

Diversity

We want to make our road cycling community more diverse, more conscious and more open. Cycling connects people, but real community only emerges when different perspectives become visible and are respected. That is why we want to actively include FLINTA individuals, POC, queer voices, feminist positions and people with political interests, so that everyone can truly participate.

From now on, we will meet every first Friday of the month (location will be announced in the WhatsApp community) to exchange ideas, collect input and bring new impulses into the community. Additionally, we will publish monthly recommendations for demonstrations, events, films, books and initiatives that inspire reflection and motivate people to get involved. We believe that this project can become self driven, supported by your curiosity and your engagement.
